Our mischievous little friends here in the PNW, Steller's Jays, make for lovely muses. This one perches lightly, watching and alert.
I started with an abstract background of acrylic and spray paint, hoping to capture the sunlight and verdant surroundings. Diving into the details of his feathers and sharp eye made for a fun contrast to the loose beginnings, the whole process a practice in loose painting and controlled, intentional work.
