I wanted to make something muted and beautiful, but I also love the wildness of throwing paint on the canvas, so I started with strokes of deep greens and dark purples, then used quick passes of violet spray paint, a hint of color through the flowers and leaves I'd planned for the foreground. With my craving for a little loose painting out of the way, it was time to bring out this sweet little feathered friend, sitting meditatively on his branch. I loved the hours of quiet introspection that unfurled slowly as I worked on this piece; so much so that I had to make another to accompany it!
