Reverie in Green
Reverie in Green
From sketch to finished painting, this piece felt like a flowering plant: the initial drawing: hesitant, fragile, and still developing; then, the background and sketch on the canvas: a leaf unfurling and stretching- becoming. Finally, stepping back and putting down the brush at the end and seeing the finished piece, adorned by butterflies, a bird, and fully realized: a plant, full and alive, watered and warmed by the sun. It's hard not to wax poetic when I imagine these spaces and moments, which is why, perhaps, I included a small poem on the book our reader holds in her hands:
Soft scent of petrichor
lingers after the deluge
fecund, green abundance
I unfurl, stretching slowly
Dreams emerge from soil
Green tendrils reaching
endlessly.
Alive.
Damp, dark earth
my roots are buried
in her nourishing depths
consciousness unfolds
we are a multitude
Seedling. Tree.
