I started this painting on a sunny day in mid-October. It was a time for remembering loved ones and the small rituals and details that make this time so special. Our little altar with photos of loved ones and drying marigolds was lit with candles. That day, I worked quietly, a rare morning where the sound of the gulls outside and the swish of the brush were all the music I needed.
