My days at the easel are often solitary, as I am engrossed in the scene coming to life under my brush; however, recently I have had a visitor- a lovely (and VERY vocal) crow, who likes to perch on the street lamp outside of my window. He caws loudly to get my attention and then cocks his head expectantly for my response, which is usually a wave of my brush and a smile.
As I was imagining a comfy space in which to be lost in thought and have my creature comforts at hand, I thought, 'How wonderful if he were to be there, cawing his thoughts on my books and ideas for paintings.' And so he made his way onto the canvas.
