Summer and fall shows and performances...

Yes, that's a heron on the cover of this post. I've fallen in love with painting birds, block printing, and crafting with clay; more to come!

Anyhoo, after my first solo show on June 5th at Gallery Erato, I was both drained and elated. So much planning, work, and PAINTING went into getting prepared for the show. Over 300 guests, wonderful sales of originals and prints, and having my band out to play for the event- incredible! I think I floated home that night (and slept for all of one day).

But that didn't stop me from accepting an offer for July to visit the Bellevue Art Museum again - but this time as a musical performer with my Latin Jazz band. The Rooftop Rhythms Concert was hosted during the Bellevue Arts Fair Weekend and was a beautiful event, packed to the rafters with art and music lovers.

Nor did I hesitate to commit to another show in the fall for which I would need to spend the next couple of months creating new works.

The Columbia City Gallery invited myself and three other latinas in Seattle to come together and create a group show. It was decided to showcase the Virgen de Guadalupe (or Virgen Mary), which was a tough one for me, as I am no Catholic, and, at best, spiritual, not religious. But, I found myself drawn to the other face of the colonizer deity: Tonantzin. I found myself building a visual homage to the original goddesses worshipped by the ancient native peoples in Mexico and Cuba and weaving the story of their power and resilience into the canvas.

In other art related news, the band was invited to play in November at the Seattle Art Museum as part of their Saturdays at SAM series. The event included a tapete (sand painting) by local artist, Fulgencio Lazo and was full of locals and tourists alike, taking in the various exhibits and dancing to the music!

And finally, since the submission date for the 2026 Seattle Erotic Art Festival was approaching, it was time to buckle down and finish the pieces that had gone unfinished and were waiting for me to come back to them. I managed to get two medium and one large work done in time, along with two others that I'd already done and had ready. Tomorrow we find out which, if any, were chosen. Fingers crossed!

Meanwhile, a few of my flower-themed pieces were chosen for an exhibit at Gallery Erato and are currently (Feb 1st-Mar23) on exhibit! Local?? Go check them out! 🥰

As always, thank you for joining me on this journey!

Love,

Becca
